The Utah Jazz defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder 115-102 in Game 3 of their first-round series Saturday night and Jazz point guard Ricky Rubio led the way with an impressive triple-double, posting 26 points, 11 rebounds and 10 assists in 37 minutes.
Rubio was in command of the Utah offense from start to finish and the Jazz now own a 2-1 series lead.
Westbrook, who averaged a triple-double this season for the second year in a row, knows first-hand how tough those are to record, especially in the playoffs where the defense is rugged.
The explosive OKC guard was clearly outplayed by Rubio in Game 3, but Westbrook’s confidence isn’t going anywhere and he guarantees he’ll shut Rubio down in what will be a pivotal Game 4 for the Thunder.
“He made some shots,” Westbrook said of Rubio. “Too comfortable. “I’m gonna shut that sh*t off next game, though. Guarantee that.”
Game 4 is Monday in Salt Lake City.
Rubio shot 9-of-18 from the field and 2-of-9 from three, while Westbrook finished with 14 points, 11 rebounds and nine assists. Westbrook was just 5-of-17 overall and 1-of-4 from three.
